FULLER RACES TO NO. 10 SPOT FRIDAY AT ZMAX DRAGWAY

CONCORD, N.C. (Sept. 12, 2008) – Hot Rod Fuller raced his David Powers-owned Caterpillar dragster to the provisional No. 10 qualifying position Friday evening at zMax Dragway at Concord. The seven-time Top Fuel winner posted an elapsed time of 3.889-seconds to finish 10th in the Top Fuel order.

Fuller posted two solid laps Friday at the inaugural Carolina Nationals with his dragster flying the colors of Caterpillar dealers Carolina Tractor, Blanchard Machinery and Gregory Poole. The Las Vegas racer powered to the fifth quickest run of Friday’s opening session with a pass of 3.933 seconds at 304.94 mph. Fuller then used a tune-up from crew chief Rob Flynn to post a quicker run of 3.889 at 304.60 to finish 10th in the 12-car provisional order; 11 cars ran in the 3.8-second range on Friday. Fuller currently ranks fifth in the NHRA Top Fuel standings. 

“We made two good runs on Friday,” Fuller said. “This is an awesome facility and the race track is great. We would have liked to have run quicker on the night run. I know Rob (Flynn) isn’t happy with that time. Consistency is important and we’ll do our best to make two solid laps in the heat of the day on Saturday because that’s what race day will be like.”

Professional nitro qualifying resumes Saturday afternoon at the spectacular new Concord track with sessions scheduled for Noon and 3:30 p.m. (ET).
