The Fuller Times The pre-race release of seven-time NHRA Top Fuel winner Rod Fuller and the Caterpillar Top Fuel team Contact: Ted Yerzyk, (317) 852-6363 o, or (760) 207-9767 c ted@davidpowersmotorsports.com Inaugural Carolina NHRA Nationals Sept. 11-14, 2008 zMax Dragway at Concord Concord, N.C. Hot Rod Fuller on Charlotte “I’m really excited. I think it’s the most important drag race of the year. Not only is it the inaugural event in Charlotte, but the first race of the Countdown to 1. There’s a lot of meaning to this race. To be only 60 points behind Tony Schumacher means we’re right back in the game.” Rob Flynn (crew chief) on Charlotte “We spent a day testing in Michigan after Indy with some real good results. Hot Rod (Fuller) felt the car was as good as it’s been. We’re looking forward to going to Charlotte because we feel it’s going to be a fantastic facility. We’re also looking forward to working with three new Caterpillar dealers and introducing them to NHRA drag racing.” Hot Rod Fuller Charlotte NHRA Notebook Two weeks ago at the prestigious U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis, Fuller qualified his MacAllister CAT dragster in the No. 13 position at 3.903-seconds. He was defeated in the opening round to perennial title contender Brandon Bernstein. It was Fuller’s sixth first round loss of the season. Fuller locked up the No. 5 seed in the Countdown to 1 at the U.S. Nationals. Fuller now trails points-leader Tony Schumacher by 60 points with six races remaining on the 2008 NHRA schedule. Fuller raced the Caterpillar dragster to the win at the St. Louis race in May, the seventh of his career. He advanced to the final round at the Joliet race. Fuller also earned the pole at the Norwalk, Ohio race in June, also the seventh of his career. Fuller has qualified for 79 consecutive NHRA Top Fuel events. The last time he failed to make the cut was at the Houston race in 1996. Fuller has the second longest qualifying streak in Top Fuel (Tony Schumacher). He has an average qualifying position of 7.22 in 18 races this season. Fuller has 13 career NHRA sportsmen victories in the Super Comp (seven) and Super Gas (six) categories. He has 20 career NHRA national event victories, seven coming in Top Fuel. Fuller’s Caterpillar dragster will be flying the colors of Carolina Tractor, Gregory Poole and Blanchard Machinery during the inaugural Charlotte NHRA race. 2008 NHRA Top Fuel Standings – (18 of 24 races) 1.
