The Fuller Times The pre-race release of seven-time NHRA Top Fuel winner Rod Fuller and the Caterpillar Top Fuel team Contact: Ted Yerzyk, (317) 852-6363 o, or (760) 207-9767 c ted@davidpowersmotorsports.com 23rd annual O’Reilly Fall Nationals Sept. 18-21, 2008 Texas Motorplex Ennis, Texas Hot Rod Fuller on Dallas “Last year was a big race to beat Tony Schumacher in the first round. I’ve been racing at that track for many years. We’ll have a lot of friends at the track along with HOLT CAT, so we definitely want to do well. It’s time. We need to go rounds. We’re six rounds behind with five races left. It’s a track that’s conducive to our tune-up and I think we can get it done.” Rob Flynn (crew chief) on Dallas “Based off of last weekend, we have a pretty consistent race car. We’ve done well there in the past with being runner-up in 2006 and beating Tony Schumacher in the first round last year. And we’re excited to again work with the folks from HOLT.” Hot Rod Fuller Dallas NHRA Notebook Last weekend at the inaugural Charlotte NHRA race at zMax Dragway at Concord, Fuller qualified his Caterpillar dragster 11th at 3.889-seconds. He advanced to the quarterfinals for the sixth time this season before smoking the tires and falling to teammate Antron Brown. Fuller ranks sixth in the Countdown to 1 standings with five races remaining on the 2008 NHRA schedule. The seven-time Top Fuel winner has one win (St. Louis) and pole (Norwalk) this season. He is 23-18 in 41 elimination rounds. Last season at Texas Motorplex, Fuller qualified the HOLT CAT dragster fourth with a lap of 4.552 seconds at 324.83 mph. He knocked off five-time series champion Tony Schumacher in the first round before losing traction against two-time champ Larry Dixon in round two. Fuller advanced to the final round at the Dallas NHRA race in 2006, posting a runner-up finish to Brandon Bernstein. Fuller has never qualified lower than fourth at the Dallas race. Fuller has qualified for 80 consecutive NHRA Top Fuel events. The last time he failed to make the cut was at the Houston race in 1996. Fuller has the second longest qualifying streak in Top Fuel (Tony Schumacher). He has an average qualifying position of 7.42 in 19 races this season. Fuller has 13 career NHRA sportsmen victories in the Super Comp (seven) and Super Gas (six) categories. He has 20 career NHRA national event victories, seven coming in Top Fuel. Fuller is a two-time sportsmen runner-up at Texas Motorplex. Fuller’s Caterpillar dragster will be flying the colors of HOLT CAT at the Dallas NHRA race for the second straight year. 2008 NHRA Top Fuel Standings – (19 of 24 races) 1.
