The Fuller Times The pre-race release of seven-time NHRA Top Fuel winner Rod Fuller and the Caterpillar Top Fuel team Contact: Ted Yerzyk, (317) 852-6363 o, or (760) 207-9767 c ted@davidpowersmotorsports.com Eighth annual ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals Oct. 30-Nov. 2, 2008 The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Las Vegas Hot Rod Fuller on Las Vegas “It’s good to be home. We’re the defending champion and that excites us. We feel that we’re dangerous. We have nothing to lose. We’re going after it and will be very aggressive. I win this late in the season can cure a sub par season for the team.” Rob Flynn (crew chief) on Las Vegas “We can’t do as good as we did last year, but we can still win the race and that would be a good morale booster. We want to do well at the last two races of the year and for the (CAT) Undercarriage group at Las Vegas.” Hot Rod Fuller Las Vegas NHRA Notebook Three weeks ago at Virginia Motorsports Park, Fuller qualified his Carter Machinery/JLG dragster seventh at 3.823 seconds. It was Fuller’s best start since the Reading, Pa. race in August (second). Fuller clocked a first-round elapsed time of 3.836 seconds, but was defeated on a holeshot by David Grubnic. It was Fuller first holeshot lost since the Sonoma, Calif. race in July 2006, a span of 52 races. Fuller, a seven-time Top Fuel winner, earned his seventh career professional win by defeating five-time series champion Tony Schumacher in the final round of the St. Louis race in May, 4.525 to 4.583. Fuller also earned his seventh career pole this season by qualifying first at the Norwalk, Ohio, race at 4.629-seconds. The Caterpillar car has recorded low E.T. of the meet three times and top speed of the meet twice this year. Fuller is the defending event champion of the fall Las Vegas race. The hometown hero experienced a banner race last October at the The Strip at LVMS winning both the lucrative Technicoat Shootout and its $100,000 payout and the ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals earning a $50,000 double-up bonus from NHRA. The Caterpillar team cashed out with nearly $200,000 during the weekend. Fuller has qualified for 83 consecutive NHRA Top Fuel events. The last time he failed to make the cut was at the Houston race in 1996. Fuller has the second longest qualifying streak in Top Fuel (Tony Schumacher). He has an average qualifying position of 7.6 in 22 races this season. Fuller has 13 career NHRA sportsmen victories in the Super Comp (seven) and Super Gas (six) categories. He has 20 career NHRA national event victories, seven coming in Top Fuel. Fuller’s dragster will be flying the colors of Caterpillar’s Undercarriage division during the ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals. 2008 NHRA Top Fuel Standings – Countdown to 1 (22 of 24 races) 1.
