FULLER DRIVES MACALLISTER CAT DRAGSTER TO NO. 13 SPOT AT INDY

CLERMONT, Ind.  (Aug. 31, 2008) – Hot Rod Fuller raced his David Powers-owned MacAllister CAT dragster to the No. 13 qualifying position Saturday afternoon at O’Reilly Raceway Park. The seven-time NHRA Top Fuel winner posted a qualifying-best elapsed time of 3.903-seconds at the U.S. Nationals. 

The popular Las Vegas racer made five consistent laps down the O.R.P. drag strip during qualifying at the 54th annual U.S. Nationals. Fuller’s quickest pass come on Saturday evening when he carded a run of 3.903 seconds at 304.67 mph. Fuller made four runs in the 3.9-second range during qualifying. On Sunday afternoon, Fuller raced the Caterpillar-backed rail to runs of 3.958 at 307.30 and 4.019 at 254.38 to finish 13th in the 16-car order. There were 20 cars attempting to make the Top Fuel field this weekend. Fuller, who has qualified for 79 consecutive races, qualified in the No. 13 position for the fourth time in his professional career. 

“We made five pretty darn good runs and I’m happy with that,” Fuller said. “I’ll take the blame for the last run. I lifted early, but it was going to run a mid-3.90. The consistency is there, now we just need to tune it up a bit.”

Fuller will battle No. 4 qualifier and perennial title contender Brandon Bernstein in the opening round of Top Fuel eliminations at 11 a.m. on Monday. Fuller is 1-1 against Bernstein this season.
