PARTNER WITH DAVID POWERS MOTORSPORTS AND HOT ROD FULLER FOR RICHMOND NHRA RACE PETERSBURG, Va. (Oct. 8, 2008) – Carter Machinery and JLG Industries, Inc. have partnered with David Powers Motorsports and seven-time NHRA Top Fuel winner Hot Rod Fuller for the third annual Virginia NHRA Nationals, Oct. 10-12, at Virginia Motorsports Park near Richmond it was announced today. Fuller’s Caterpillar® dragster will fly the Carter Machinery and JLG logos during the Richmond NHRA race. The relationship between David Powers Motorsports, Caterpillar Inc. and the Caterpillar dealers was designed as a pilot program to increase technician recruiting since many Caterpillar dealers around the country are experiencing a shortage of technicians. After successful events in several NHRA markets during the 2007 season, DPM and Caterpillar inked a multiyear agreement last August to participate in the NHRA dealer recruitment program. “The support from our Caterpillar dealers and Caterpillar allied vendors for the NHRA racing program continues to grow and we see this with another new dealer, Carter, being on our dragster this year,” Fuller said. “We’re going to have some fun at our last East Coast race of the year and go out and try to win some rounds and hopefully the Richmond race.” Fuller currently ranks eighth in the NHRA Countdown to 1 standings following 21 of 24 races on the 2008 NHRA racing schedule. The Las Vegas racer earned his seventh career Top Fuel win by powering the Caterpillar dragster to the title of the St. Louis race in early May. Fuller also has seven career Top Fuel poles, including the Norwalk, Ohio race in June. ESPN2 will feature 60 minutes of qualifying highlights from the Virginia NHRA Nationals at 11:30 p.m. (ET) on Oct. 11, and three hours of final eliminations coverage of the Richmond NHRA race at 7:30 p.m. (ET) on Sept. 21. Carter Machinery and JLG will have a display on the popular Manufacturer’s Midway at Virginia Motorsports Park. Representatives will be on-site to answer questions about their products and services.
